Accountabilities
- Lead innovation across a significant business landscape, capability, or strategic area, translating organizational priorities into clear direction, focus, and measurable outcomes.
- Own and oversee a portfolio of innovation opportunities, ensuring prioritization, coherence, and alignment with strategic and commercial objectives.
- Identify, shape, prioritize, and progress high-value opportunities through structured discovery, experimentation, validation, and transition activities.
- Maintain clear value propositions and strategic intent throughout the innovation lifecycle, ensuring continuity as opportunities move toward implementation.
- Partner with senior leaders across business, digital, data, technology, product, and operations to align priorities and enable effective progression of initiatives.
- Serve as a senior bridge between innovation teams and downstream execution functions, ensuring validated propositions transition effectively without losing their strategic purpose.
- Guide portfolio prioritization and investment trade-offs, balancing exploration of emerging opportunities with scaling of validated concepts.
- Ensure innovation opportunities are supported by robust evidence, clearly defined assumptions, and compelling value propositions to inform investment decisions.
- Contribute to governance, portfolio reviews, strategic planning, and investment decision-making activities.
- Identify dependencies, risks, market patterns, and emerging opportunities that can influence broader portfolio and enterprise innovation strategies.
- Shape and communicate a compelling innovation narrative across executive, internal, client, partner, and external industry audiences.
- Partner with commercial, strategy, and communications stakeholders to position innovation capabilities, initiatives, and thought leadership effectively.
- Represent the innovation function in strategic discussions, industry engagements, client interactions, governance forums, and thought leadership activities.
- Apply deep innovation expertise and external perspectives to shape portfolio choices, business outcomes, and long-term capability development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; an advanced degree such as an MBA or MS is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience leading innovation, transformation, strategy, product discovery, technology-enabled business initiatives, or related strategic programs.
- Proven experience leading large-scale or enterprise-level portfolios, strategic initiatives, or cross-functional innovation programs.
- Demonstrated success in shaping and progressing high-impact opportunities through structured discovery, experimentation, validation, and transition.
- Strong strategic leadership and innovation management capabilities, with a deep understanding of experimentation and evidence-based investment approaches.
- Ability to prioritize high-value opportunities and make sound decisions in ambiguous, evolving, and complex environments.
- Experience influencing senior and executive stakeholders within matrixed organizations and across business and technology functions.
- Strong leadership experience spanning business, digital, data, technology, product, and operational environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how innovation can support growth, differentiation, customer value, and competitive positioning.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Exceptional storytelling capabilities, with the ability to communicate innovation strategies, opportunities, and outcomes to executive, client, and external audiences.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to balance long-term strategic thinking and practical portfolio execution.
- Understanding of emerging technologies, digital transformation, and innovation trends relevant to healthcare and clinical research environments.
- Experience representing innovation initiatives in governance forums, strategic planning discussions, or external industry settings.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and comfort collaborating across global, cross-functional teams.
