Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Infrastructure Engineer to manage and optimize enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The role focuses on operational stability, VMware and Windows infrastructure, capacity management, automation, patching, compliance, monitoring, and technical leadership .

The engineer will work closely with architects, operations, security, and other technology teams while providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Operations

- Manage Incidents, Tasks, Problems, and Change Requests in alignment with ITIL processes.
- Lead technical activities during Major Incident Management (MIM) calls and support timely service recovery.
- Ensure SLA adherence and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
- Provide technical troubleshooting, escalation support, and mentorship to team members.

VMware & Windows Infrastructure

- Manage and support VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and VxRail environments.
- Perform virtualization administration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Plan and execute P2V and V2V migrations .
- Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 environments.
- Support server provisioning, lifecycle management, performance optimization, and decommissioning.

Capacity & Performance Management

- Monitor infrastructure utilization across compute, memory, storage, virtualization, and cloud resources .
- Identify capacity constraints and performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
- Forecast capacity requirements and work with architects on scaling and infrastructure planning.
- Maintain capacity dashboards, performance metrics, and leadership reports.

Cloud Infrastructure

- Support infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments.
- Work with architects on cloud implementation, migration, optimization, governance, security, and reliability.
- Support hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.

Automation & Optimization

- Automate repetitive operational activities using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting technologies .
- Automate provisioning, health checks, monitoring, patching, compliance validation, and reporting.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices where appropriate.
- Drive continuous service improvement and reduce manual operational effort.

Patch Management & Compliance

- Plan and execute Windows Server patching across enterprise environments.
- Maintain patch compliance, vulnerability, exception, and remediation dashboards.
- Automate patch deployment, validation, and compliance reporting.
- Ensure infrastructure meets security, compliance, vulnerability management, and audit requirements.

Monitoring, Backup & Recovery

- Support enterprise monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability platforms.
- Maintain dashboards for infrastructure availability, health, performance, and capacity.
- Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions .
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and remediation activities.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

- Lead or contribute to infrastructure migrations, upgrades, technology refreshes, and transformation initiatives.
- Work with architects and technical teams on infrastructure standards and operational improvements.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and act as a technical escalation point.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and maintain strong technical documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 12+ years of relevant hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering or systems infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and VxRail .
- Advanced administration experience with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 .
- Experience supporting Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments.
- Strong understanding of capacity planning, performance monitoring, forecasting, and infrastructure optimization .
- Strong automation and scripting skills using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies .
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation practices.
- Strong experience with ITIL-based Incident, Major Incident, Change, and Problem Management .
- Experience with P2V and V2V migrations .
- Strong knowledge of patch management, compliance reporting, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and high availability .
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading complex infrastructure activities and mentoring technical team members.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with distributed global teams.

Work Conditions

- Ability to work early IST shifts starting from 6:00 AM onwards to provide coverage for APAC business hours as per business requirements.
- Flexibility to support critical maintenance windows, Major Incidents, and infrastructure changes outside regular working hours.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24x7 enterprise operations .
