Job Purpose
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems and processes to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. This role provides technical expertise in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality planning, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting cross-functional teams. The Senior Quality Engineer plays a strategic role in driving operational excellence, enhancing product reliability, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee quality systems and documentation in alignment with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure robust quality planning during product launches and engineering changes.
- Lead complex investigations into product and process non-conformances using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).
- Ensure timely and effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate and execute APQP deliverables including FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP submissions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product and process readiness.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as scrap rates, customer complaints, and audit findings.
- Use statistical analysis to identify trends and lead continuous improvement projects to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to Quality Engineers and Technicians.
- Support training initiatives and promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience
- 7+ years of experience
Skills
- Advanced proficiency in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards, with experience in leading audits, managing compliance, and driving quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions using structured methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success in mentoring team members, driving process improvements, and fostering a culture of quality excellence.
