About this role

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Lead Project Execution will be responsible for end-to-end execution, delivery, and commissioning of renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, Hybrid, and Storage). The role requires strong technical, commercial, and leadership capabilities to manage multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. The individual will take full accountability for project timelines, budgets, quality, stakeholder coordination, and risk management. This is a senior leadership role for a professional with 15–18 years of experience in the Indian renewable energy sector with proven expertise in project management, BoP costing, engineering oversight, contractor/vendor management, and cross-functional execution.

Project Planning & Management

- Lead complete lifecycle of RE projects from Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) to COD.

- Prepare, review, and drive Project Execution Plans, resource plans, risk registers, and quality assurance processes.

- Develop and monitor project schedules using tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent PM platforms.

- Lead weekly & monthly progress review meetings with internal teams, EPC partners, OEMs, and contractors.

- Adherence to project schedule and milestone completion.

- Budget compliance and cost optimization achieved.

Technical Oversight

- Oversee detailed engineering for civil, electrical, and mechanical BoP — foundations, structures, switchyards, transmission lines, SCADA, WTG/Solar module interfaces, etc.

- Validate engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design changes.

- Ensure design compliance with Indian and international codes, CEA regulations, OEM guidelines, and state policies. Costing & Budget Control

- Prepare and validate BoP cost estimates (civil, electrical, mechanical).

- Evaluate cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality or safety.

- Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and certify contractor invoices.

- Conduct techno-commercial analysis for variations, claims, and change orders.

Contractor & Vendor Management

- Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, subcontractors, and site vendors to ensure timely and quality delivery.

- Evaluate technical and commercial proposals during procurement.

- Ensure strict adherence to contractual obligations, SLAs, and project milestones.

- Resolve site-level disputes and ensure smooth coordination.

Site Execution & Quality Management

- Lead site execution teams across multiple sites as required.

- Ensure adherence to quality standards, method statements, and inspection & test plans (ITPs).

- Drive site audits, material inspections, and quality compliance for all BoP works.

- Quality performance indicators (NCRs, rework, engineering errors).

Safety, Statutory & Compliance

- Enforce safety culture and compliance with corporate EHS standards.

- Ensure statutory approvals from CEIG, SLDC, STU, DISCOM, Pollution Control Boards, etc.

- Engage with government agencies, local authorities, land owners, and stakeholders.

- Safety performance (LTI-free environment, audit scores).

- Stakeholder satisfaction (management, EPC partners, regulators).

Commissioning & Handover

- Lead mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, testing, and final commissioning activities.

- Ensure successful synchronization with the grid and COD certifications.

- Handover project to O&M teams with complete documentation.

- Successful COD and handover to O&M.

Stakeholder Management

- Coordinate with internal teams — Engineering, SCM, Finance, Commercial, Legal, BD, and O&M.

- Provide regular project status updates to management and investors.

- Maintain strong relationships with government bodies, OEMs, EPC partners, and regulatory authorities.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

- B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering (mandatory).

- PMP / Prince2 certification (preferred but not mandatory).

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

- 15 -18 years in project execution of large-scale solar, wind, hybrid, or RE + storage projects in India.

- Strong expertise in BoP engineering and costing (civil, electrical, mechanical).

- Good knowledge of WTGs, solar modules, inverters, transformers, switchyard construction, transmission line works, and SCADA systems.

- Experience executing projects of 100 MW+ in Solar OR Wind (preferred: hybrid projects).

- The role is project-site based and will require frequent travel. The incumbent should be comfortable with travel and deployment across project locations.
