AsIAm works to support the Autistic community and our families to fully engage in Irish life and build the capacity of society to facilitate true inclusion.

The next step in that support to the Autistic community is the implementation of AsIAm Regional Community Support Hubs, the first of which are based in South Dublin and Galway.

The Role

As a Senior Community Advisor, you will work closely with the Community Support Hub 2 Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Community Support Hub 2. You will contribute to ensuring the delivery of a range of information, advice and post diagnostic support services for Autistic adults and children, their families, carers and interested professionals.

This role provides an ideal opportunity for someone who is comfortable and skilled in interacting with Autistic children, adults and families, and has experience in both delivery of effective community supports to Autistic people on a range of complex matters and supporting team members in skill and knowledge development. They should have a deep knowledge of Autistic culture, and Autism related issues in Ireland. The role requires the successful candidate to adapt and build Community Support Hub 2 resources and services provided.

Main Purpose of the Post:

- To support the Community Support Hub 2 Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Community Support Hub 2.
- To support the Community Support Hub 2 Manager in providing supervision, casework oversight and training to Community Advisors, particularly around complex cases.
- To develop and deliver advice, information and support on a range of complex issues impacting Autistic individuals throughout the lifespan. As Senior Advisor, through the triaging of cases you will identify where complex cases require your leadership.
- To support adults following their diagnosis by providing information and advice to help them navigate systems and support.
- To support parents following their child’s diagnosis by providing information and advice to help them support and understand their child.
- To promote acceptance and understanding of the needs of Autistic individuals across the spectrum among professionals and the wide community.
- To identify gaps in access to information and support, particularly post diagnosis and to formulate responses to meet needs.
- To engage with individuals and groups to enable access to mainstream and other services.

- To ensure the AsIAm Community Support Hub 2 demonstrates sound governance and compliance.
- To build productive and collaborative relationships with team members at AsIAm HQ, particularly on issues which may be policy related.

- To maintain accurate and confidential records relating to people accessing the services of the Community Support Hub 2.

- To support the development and collation of a range of information resources.
- To take a leading role in developing and delivering activities, groups and opportunities that would enhance the wellbeing of individuals accessing the Community Support Hub 2.
- To ensure the Community Support Hub 2 is meeting the needs of the Autistic community in the region.
- To collaborate with internal and external partners to identify appropriate actions.

Specific Responsibilities:

- To support the Community Support Hub 2 Manager in maintaining good safeguarding practices across the Community Support Hub 2.
- To support the Community Support Hub 2 Manager in maintaining adherence to protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulation, best practice guidelines and consistency of approach.
- To support team members in the ongoing risk assessment and management of activities within the Community Support Hub 2.
- To identify team training needs and keep up to date with relevant changes in legislation and policy.
- To support the Community Support Hub 2 Manager in ensuring that the Community Support Hub 2 delivers agreed outcomes for the target area in line with the Service Level Agreement.
- To provide casework supervision and support to Community Advisors in relation to casework arising from 1:1 Information and Advice Sessions, including facilitating bi-weekly casework and supervision meetings.
- To sit in on 1:1 Information and Advice Sessions as required to provide casework guidance, support and oversight.
- To support the Head of Department (HOD) and Community Support Hub 2 Manager with the implementation and effective use of the new CRM system, ensuring casework is recorded accurately, efficiently and within required timeframes.
- To support the Community Support Hub 2 Manager with monthly casework audits and provide constructive feedback to Community Advisors on their casework during supervision meetings.
- To record and report on trends emerging from casework and share relevant information with the HOD for monitoring, recording and appropriate information-sharing with the Policy, Legal and Information Line Team.

Training and Development :

- To undertake Core Training as identified in the Induction process.

- To actively identify personalised learning objectives and engage with and contribute to the 1:1 and review process.

Finance:

- To liaise with the Community Support Hub 2 Manager and Head of Governance and Compliance to follow all direction and guidelines pertaining to financial and budgetary procedures.

Quality :

- To monitor and ensure that all duties reflect best practice and are carried out in accordance with the requirements of organisational policy and legislative requirements.

Wider AsIAm Team

- To participate in the overall team to ensure collaborative teamwork and support other team members as required.
- To attend events on behalf of the organisation.

Requirements

Essential:

- Minimum of two years’ experience working in an Autism support service (e.g., HSE, charity sector, school etc.).
- Academic qualification in social care, social work, nursing, education, health or clinical sciences.
- Experience leading or overseeing an aspect of Autism support service or service development.

Desirable:

- Experience providing support professionally to both Autistic children and Autistic adults.

Contract Duration:

This is a permanent role subject to HSE funding.

Salary:

Salary will align with Grade IV as set out in the HSE Consolidated Pay Grades.

Working Hours:

The role is five days Community Support Hub 2 based across Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The role holder is required to have a degree of flexibility regarding working hours with the expectation of some evening and weekend work.

Location:

The role will be based in the Community Support Hub 2, Dublin.
