Senior Controls Specialist

Seeking a Senior Controls Specialist for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Columbia, SC.

Salary: $90K - $125K per year (based on experience)

Responsibilities

- Design, program, configure, integrate, and commission BAS systems using NIAGARA, JCI Metasys, and Distech Controls.
- Lead complex automation projects from design through installation, commissioning, and completion.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure systems meet project requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced hardware, software, controls, and network issues.
- Optimize BAS performance to improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and system reliability.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior controls specialists.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support, including client training and post-installation assistance.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, programming, and commissioning reports.
- Stay current with BAS technologies and identify opportunities to improve system performance and building efficiency.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with Building Automation Systems.
- Advanced experience with NIAGARA Framework, JCI Metasys, and Distech Controls.
- Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP-based control networks.
- Experience with BAS control hardware, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building systems integration, including lighting and access control.
- Proven experience with BAS design, programming, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead projects and mentor junior technical staff.
- Tridium Niagara, JCI Metasys, or Distech certifications preferred.
- LEED, Energy Manager, or related certifications are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
