Job Title: AutoCAD Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a motivated AutoCAD Engineer to join an established engineering team that designs and supports custom equipment for the foundation construction, drilling, and grouting industries. This role is ideal for a recent engineering graduate or early-career professional who wants to grow technical skills while contributing innovative ideas to product development and manufacturing processes. You will help design and modify custom equipment, manufacturing drawings, and engineered solutions, working closely with operations, manufacturing, and leadership teams to improve existing products and develop new solutions.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain detailed AutoCAD drawings and engineering documentation for custom equipment and components.
- Assist in the design of custom manufacturing equipment, tooling, and mechanical components used in foundation construction, drilling, and grouting applications.
- Modify existing drawings based on production feedback, quality requirements, and customer specifications to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient to produce, and aligned with shop capabilities and processes.
- Support engineering projects from initial concept through implementation, including prototyping, documentation, and production support.
- Participate in product improvement initiatives and cost-reduction efforts to enhance performance, reliability, and overall value.
- Research new technologies, materials, and design concepts to strengthen current product offerings and inform future product development.
- Assist with troubleshooting design and manufacturing challenges, working with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Maintain drawing revisions, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering records in an organized and up-to-date manner.
Essential Skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or a related field.
- 0 to 3 years of engineering or CAD experience, with a strong interest in mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, including the ability to create and modify detailed 2D drawings and documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes and how design decisions affect production.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and leadership teams.
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to approach technical challenges with creativity and analytical thinking.
- Self-starter mindset with a desire to learn, take initiative, and contribute new ideas to products and processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to SolidWorks or other 3D design software is a plus and will support future product development activities.
- Experience or coursework in mechanical design, CAD design, or process improvement is beneficial.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems, industrial equipment, or manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Interest in continuous improvement and willingness to challenge the status quo to enhance products and operations.
- Ability to work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment focused on the design and production of grouting equipment for geotechnical, deep foundation, construction, tunneling, mining, and infrastructure projects. The facility produces high-shear colloidal grout mixers, grout plants, grout pumps, paddle mixers, cement silos, agitation tanks, and related equipment that support large-scale foundation and construction work, as well as rental equipment, replacement parts, technical support, and customized equipment solutions. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work closely with a tight-knit engineering and manufacturing team and have direct access to leadership, offering the opportunity to influence products, processes, and engineering decisions within a family-oriented, long-established organization.

This is a Permanent position based out of Winchester, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
