About this role
Hiire is currently supporting Six Floor in hiring a Senior CV Engineer!!
Six Floor Solutions builds technology that lets sports and news organisations unlock the full
value of their video. Our platform uses computer vision and machine learning to process live
or archived streams — automatically detecting key moments, generating highlights and
producing broadcast-ready content, with no dependency on external data feeds.
We work with global broadcasters, professional clubs and federations across football,
tennis, American football, basketball and more. We are growth-stage, our client list is
expanding fast, and the product roadmap demands a stronger, more capable CV/ML
team to match.
The Role
This is a senior individual-contributor and team leadership position combined. You will own
the full CV and ML pipeline — from research through to production — while also building and
growing the team around you. Over the next year, that team will expand, and you will be
central to hiring, shaping and developing it.
The product lives and dies on the quality of our models. Continuous development, retraining
and refinement of our ML systems is not a maintenance task here — it is a core driver of
how the product evolves and how we stay ahead.
What You''l do:
• Research, design and ship production-grade algorithms for real-time video
understanding — detection, tracking, classification, segmentation — that work
reliably across sports and broadcast conditions.
• Drive the continuous development and improvement of our ML models: evaluation,
gap analysis, retraining and fine-tuning. Model quality is a product priority, not a
backlog item.
• Write high-performance, maintainable code in C++ (production) and Python (R&D), to
a standard the whole team can build on.
• Collaborate with backend and product teams to ensure the vision pipeline integrates
cleanly into the broader platform.
Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor a growing CV/ML team — setting technical direction, reviewing
code and raising the bar for delivery quality.
• Play an active role in hiring: defining roles, assessing candidates and building a team
capable of scaling with the product.
• Create a culture of rigour and curiosity — where research informs engineering and
engineers care about outcomes.
What We're Looking For
• 6+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping computer vision and/or
machine learning systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in C++ (production) and Python (R&D), with solid engineering
practices: version control, CI/CD, testing.
• Deep expertise in OpenCV and at least one major deep learning framework —
PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, linear algebra, probability and optimisation — you
reason from first principles.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a track record of raising team output
and quality.
• Familiarity with Linux, FFmpeg and/or GStreamer for video pipeline work.
• A Master's degree or equivalent depth in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering
or a related CV/ML field.
Nice to have
• Experience with real-time or low-latency video at scale.
• Background in sports video, broadcast or sports analytics.
What We Offer
• Hard, unsolved problems — real-time CV and ML at scale across multiple sports and
camera environments.
• Direct impact: your models will power content seen by fans of the world's biggest
sports properties.
• Competitive, experience-based compensation — flexible for the right person.
• A learning culture: conferences, courses and personal development are built into how
we work.
• Flexible hours, a collaborative hybrid setup, and a tight-knit team in Lisbon that takes
the work seriously without taking itself too seriously.
Sound like you?
Send us your CV and a brief note on a CV or ML problem you are proud of having solved —
what the challenge was, how you approached it, and what shipped. We welcome
applications from candidates who do not tick every box but can demonstrate real depth and
ownership.
