POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Member Experience Coordinator at the YMCA of Tuscaloosa creates and maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The Coordinator leads our Welcome Center team, engages members and guests, and creates a positive member experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Creates an atmosphere of positive member engagement to provide a superior member experience
- Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
- Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
- Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Follows all YMCA policies and procedures.
- Processes transactions
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby and Welcome Center Areas.
- Contacts past due accounts in attempt to collect, update payment sources, etc.
- Develops weekly/monthly schedules to ensure proper and adequate coverage at Welcome Center. Fills-in as needed to ensure proper coverage
- Invoices annual memberships and third-party membership providers as required
- Other tasks and initiatives as directed by supervisor
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous customer service, sales or related experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and well-being of those in the facility.
- May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms.
- May be required to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time
