Responsibilities
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Participate in network planning, design and engineering to support seamless operations
- Integrate communication architectures, hardware, software and protocols into cohesive network configurations
- Evaluate new products and resolve network issues to maintain system integrity
- Assist in developing and documenting technical standards for
- Spectrum Business’ networks
- Implement approved methods and procedures to enhance network performance
- Monitor protocol compatibility standards, develop network enhancements and recommend improvements
- Provide tier support across teams and contribute as a project team member or occasional lead
Working Conditions
- Office environment with potential work in network lab settings
- 24/7 network operations environment
- On-call responsibilities may be required depending on business needs
- Occasional travel as necessary
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
Experience
- 0+ years of data network experience
Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with employees, customers and suppliers
- Proficiency with personal computers and software applications
- Intermediate knowledge of data networking including OSI Model, TCP/IP and Optical Networking
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Understanding of industry specifications and standards including IEEE, ANSI and Fiber technologies
- Knowledge in network design, architecture, protocols and topology
- Experience using ticketing and software tools for operational support
- Familiarity with basic network devices and appliances
- Ability to use network design software such as Visio
- Capable of performing duties in a fast-paced environment and learning new technology quickly
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Industry and vendor certifications or training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent)
