About this role

The Roasting Apprentice 1 is a 6-9-month training program to help develop the skills necessary to becoming an Apprentice 2. You will begin to learn the responsibilities and procedures for roasting and maintaining the flow of roasted coffee to the packaging department. By the end of the Apprentice 1 program, an individual will need to be able to independently roast on the 240k and have successfully completed the training below.

Qualifications

Training Areas of Focus:

- Forklift Training

- Fire Safety and Procedures

- Green coffee off-loading

- Silo loading

- Roasting equipment identification and familiarity

- Daily/Weekly/Quarterly roaster maintenance

- Green Room maintenance protocols

- Organic procedures

- Pre and Post Blending

- Cupping Protocols

- Excel/NetSuite/Cropster proficiency

- MPE controls and batch transfer

- Roasting-

Observation of 240k roasting

- Detailed notes/batch logs/Cropster input

- Roasting instruction/theory

- Roasting with supervision

- Independent Roasting on 240 with the ability to roast the following:

Dillons

- Metro

- Midway

- Howies

- Special Dark

- Elevation

- Decaf

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, possess self-management skills, be able to perform basic math and computer skills, written, and verbal communication skills. This position requires the ability to efficiently plan in detail multiple assignments, tasks, and projects, while meeting specific deadlines. Previous production roasting is preferred. This candidate will be required to properly lift up to 75lbs unassisted and 152lbs assisted, walk, stand, bend, climb stairs, and comply with the Dillanos Coffee Roasters GMP. This candidate must have the ability to become certified to operate a forklift. This position requires working overtime hours and occasional weekends. This position is in a warehouse and requires working in areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather conditions.
