Job Description – Downline Operator
Location: Millville, NJ
Shift: Shift: 6:00PM-6:00AM, 12 hours shift on 2-2-3 schedule
Payrate: $18.00
Reports to: Production Supervisor

The Downline Operator is responsible for operating and constantly monitoring packaging machinery and palletizers to achieve production targets, while identifying and reporting mechanical or operational issues to maintenance and management. Operates forklifts to transport materials and finished goods safely and efficiently.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Keep packaging materials stocked (corrugated wraps, glue, stretch wrap).

- Adheres to health safety, and food quality regulations (e.g., GMP, HACCP, FDA, SQF)

- Operate and monitor palletizers, wrappers, and basic material handling equipment.

- Clear simple jams and assist with manual operation when needed.

- Unload, sort, and stack pallets to maintain steady production flow.

- Verify case codes, gable codes, fiber tears, and alignment.

- Report any quality issues or irregularities to the lead or supervisor.

- Support proper product storage and rotation.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

- Works with peers to train and develop training materials.

- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Machine Operation & Technical Skills: Ability to operate, monitor, and clear jams from packing, casing, and palletizing machinery. This includes setting up scanners, printers, and managing conveyors.

- Quality Control & Documentation: Ensuring product integrity by verifying case codes, package seals, and accurately recording data.

- Logistics & Organization: Managing raw materials (corrugated wraps, glue) and maintaining organized, clean work areas.

- Communication & Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team, communicate effectively with other shifts, and follow written/verbal instructions.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is preferred.

- Professional certifications and Licences: Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain after hire)
