Job Summary

The Physician Liaison 1 - Orthopedics connects physicians, practices, hospitals, ERs, Urgent Care, and other providers with key community stakeholders. The goal is to increase awareness and access to BSWH services by building positive relationships. The Physician Liaison 1 - Orthopedics works with hospital administrators to set growth priorities and execute outreach initiatives. They have scheduled and as-needed interactions with external parties to promote Baylor Scott and White Health services. Regular contact with hospital administrators allows them to represent BSWH and relay important information. The main focuses are BSWH growth and improving the patient experience.

Essential Functions of the Role

- Establish and foster relationships with health care providers and key community stakeholders in the primary market service area and beyond. Achieve this through regular, open, and honest communication with these external parties. The health care providers and community stakeholders the Physician Liaison 1 - Orthopedics will regularly contact include the following, with a special focus on autonomous providers in each category: Primary Care Providers
- Specialists and Sub-Specialists
- Outside hospitals (with focus on Emergency Departments and Critical Care Units)
- Free-Standing Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Facilities
- All other ancillary health care providers (e.g.-imaging, rehab, ASC, dialysis centers, etc.)
- Large employers (as assigned by service-line leadership)
- Community and/or municipal groups (schools, sporting events, etc) (as assigned by service-line leadership)

- When meeting with these external parties: Identify any gaps in care or needs that exist. Connect those health care providers with the appropriate BSWH Orthopedics stakeholders to meet those needs.
- Identify opportunities for increased alignment or partnership, either formally or informally. Work with the appropriate BSWH Orthopedics stakeholders to pursue those opportunities.
- Serve as the BSWH Orthopedics contact for these external parties. Connect them with stakeholders across the BSWH enterprise as needed.

- Use market data to understand the health care landscape in the service area. Collaborate with hospital and service-line leadership and Strategy to create action plans. Base these plans on community needs and BSWH capabilities.
- Collaborate with local OR and procedural leadership to review volumes and outcomes regularly. Identify issues, needs, or shortcomings to create and execute action plans. Capitalize on successes to enhance alignment with key specialists.
- Ensure communication channels between our hospitals, physicians, and external health care providers are open. Maintain regular contact and provide pertinent updates to those health care providers.
- Promptly respond to issues reported by external health care providers as they arise: Engage the appropriate service-line leadership to ensure resolution of the issue(s) and communicate with the reporting health care provider.
- As appropriate, involve hospital and service line leadership for service recovery and/or reaffirmation of our commitment to these relationships.

- Utilize the CRM to document and report on activities
- Maintain consistent communication and regular touchpoints with BSWH hospital and service line leadership. Report on our activities as requested.
- Collaborate with partners across the BSWH enterprise, including joint venture partners. Maximize efforts for consistent growth and improved patient experience at BSWH.
- Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner
