About this role

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description
This role provides essential day-to-day technical support and training for the assembly processes within the plant. The goal is to maximize efficiency by analyzing assembly line layouts, workflow, assembly methods, change-over-fixturing, gauges, work-in-process (WIP) storage, and tool storage. Additionally, the position involves developing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements such as Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Process Flow Charts, and Process Design Sheets. The engineer will lead and participate in building prototype and pre-production sample parts and distribute internal Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR). Supporting Program Management with detailed engineering micro-schedules to ensure timely completion of all project milestones is also a key part of the job.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and training for assembly processes.
- Analyze assembly line layouts, workflow, and methods to maximize efficiency.
- Develop APQP requirements, including PFMEA, Process Flow Charts, and Design Sheets.
- Lead and participate in building prototypes and pre-production sample parts.
- Distribute internal Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR).
- Support project macro-schedules with detailed engineering micro-schedules.
- Identify process equipment load requirements and communicate needs to internal team members.
Essential Skills
- Experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.
- Skills in design, process improvement, manufacturing processes, tooling, and machining.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 2 to 4+ years of related manufacturing experience.
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
Work Environment
The position is onsite, operating Monday through Friday on the first shift. Working hours can range from 40 to 52 hours weekly, with weekend shifts being rare but possible for on-call situations. The role is located in the Salem, IL area, offering a long-term contract opportunity with the possibility of permanent offers if relocation is considered. Consultants residing more than 50 miles away may be eligible for a per diem arrangement.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $61.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
