Gridworks is seeking a seasoned Vice President of EHS to elevate our safety and environmental programs across all utility-scale solar projects. In this executive leadership role, you will drive safety and environmental accountability from job award through project completion, partnering with project, construction, and field teams as well as subcontractors to build a best-in-class safety culture while ensuring full regulatory compliance at every active site.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
As the Vice President of EHS, you will enhance our current safety and environmental programs and practices, leading implementation and accountabilities from job award through completion. You will work collaboratively with Project Directors, Construction Directors, Field and Office personnel, as well as Subcontractor personnel across all projects and provide reports and progress to the Chief Operations Officer. The ideal candidate would reside in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado or Arizona. This is a hybrid position with 50-65% travel to regional projects sites.
THE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop safety and environmental presentations and content for project proposals
- Develop site-specific safety orientations for personnel integration onto project sites
- Manage and facilitate process and implementation of site-specific EPA and AHJ required SPCC documents
- Manage SWPPP/BMP program and ensure that NOI is submitted in a timely manner that facilitates the project schedule/s
- Manage and facilitate Air Quality permitting
- Ensure company-wide compliance associated with Right to Know and HAZCOM
- Manage and facilitate Fugitive Dust permitting and Abatement plans
- Collaborate with Project Directors, Construction Directors, and Engineering teams to prepare site specific safety and environmental plans
- Develop processes which ensure safety and environmental compliance aspects of a project are communicated to the project team and site personnel
- Review subcontractor safety plans and ensure compliance with project standards
- Maintain training records for Gridworks staff and coordinate required training with 3rd party entities as needed to maintain proper certifications based on OSHA and NEC standards
- Develop site-specific safety audit schedule and visit active project sites
- Produce reporting on observations from audits, walk throughs and after near misses, incidents, or accidents.
- Facilitate meetings with the Construction Director for review of incidents prior to submission of any claims associated with incidents
- Facilitate meetings with the Construction Director for review of proposed changes to the Safety Department or any safety related purchases
- Monitor the medical treatment and status of injured employees until they are fully released and/or the claims are closed
- Maintain site-specific material safety data sheet catalogs and notify affected parties of updates
- Ensure that all site mangers are familiar with protocols for reporting near misses, accidents, injuries, and incidents on their project
- Monitor use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment throughout all sites
- Monitor and maintain record of safety certifications for on-site personnel
- Build a safety team that will support the needs and the vision of the company
- Maintain and implement safety and environmental programs that support a Culture mindset
- Manage team of site Safety Managers
Qualifications
YOUR BACKGROUND
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction and or EPC safety and environmental with at least 7 years at a director's level
- Degree or Professional Certification in HS&E or equivalent
- Experience in developing & implementing HS&E Plans, and HS&E program management and validation
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to influence without authority
- Ability to think innovatively, offering creative solutions aligning HS&E operational priorities
- Experience managing safety for concurrent, complex construction projects, preferably with some project management and/or construction management background
