POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Accounting Manager maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and coordinates intermediate level accounting functions such as general ledger/account maintenance, account reconciliation, data processing and reporting. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for the efficient administration and processing of bi-weekly payroll and reporting requirements, assist with monthly closings, reconciling employee benefits for billing and allocations, payroll reporting and other special projects while always keeping the integrity of the Association by maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality at all times. The position will help ensure that finance processes, procedures and internal controls are effective and efficient.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Processes bi-weekly payroll and generates corresponding journal entries.

- Reconciles benefit carrier invoices/statement with payroll data.

- Work with staff to ensure that payroll and accounting systems provide accurate information.

- Serve as a resource to staff who have concerns or questions regarding payroll.

- Training managers/supervisors in proper payroll procedures ensure employees timekeeping records are processed accurately and on a timely regular basis.

- Responding to all federal and state agency requests for compliance documentation (wage orders, garnishments, tax levies, etc.) to ensure compliance with all agencies.

- Responds to wage verification requests.

- Participates in special projects related to payroll.

- Manages and oversees payroll website design and maintenance.

- Assists personnel in preparation of annual salary budget matrixes for all departments.

- Processes monthly SRO billing and assists in RAFT application processing.

- Bank Deposits for Administrative office.

- Daily exports from POS system.

- Oversees AP selections and payments to vendors.

- Responsible for annual workers compensation and liability insurance renewals working closely with independent brokers.

- Supervises AP and serves as back-up.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field preferred or Associates degree in accounting or related field plus at least one year of accounting experience (or equivalent).

- Knowledge of general ledger and accounting functions.

- Knowledge of and expertise with computerized accounting systems and sound working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing.

- Excellent problem-solving skills.

- Must be highly organized and have the ability to work with confidential matters.
