About this role

The Phlebotomist orders and transmits lab orders in the computer system. This position performs blood draws from patients at the outpatient draw station. Responsibilities include processing blood, urine, stool specimens according to Laboratory procedures.

- Monday-Friday - 7:00am-3:30pm

- Reynoldsburg, OH

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform blood draw in outpatient draw station. Process lab specimens in a timely manner.

Order and transmit lab orders in the computer system.

Respond in an effective manner to priority collection needs. Organize work in order to obtain acceptable turnaround time for collection of all priorities of specimens.

Follow organization policies and procedures for proper identification of the patient and properly label all specimens.

Stock workstation and maintain a clean work area. Dispose of biohazard materials in the appropriate container.

Maintain patient confidentiality.

Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.

All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Licensures & Certifications

High school diploma or GED required

INR testing experience required

Strong Phlebotomy or customer service skills preferred

Previous experience in a lab or clinical setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform waived kit testing and laboratory equipment

Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with lab staff

Proficient phlebotomy skills including working with pediatric patients, both venipuncture and fingerstick

Ability to establish and maintain working relationship with patients and staff

Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions

Ability to follow protocols

Ability to work independently and as a team member

Ability to be adaptable to a changing work environment
