Electrical & Embedded Systems Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Embedded Systems Engineer to design, develop, and support advanced embedded electronics and real-time systems. This role combines hardware design, embedded firmware development, power electronics, and system-level troubleshooting for portable and handheld instrumentation products.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop embedded and real-time systems using C, C++, Python, and MATLAB .
- Apply electrical engineering principles across analog, digital, power electronics, and embedded firmware domains.
- Design and support low-power electronic systems for portable and handheld devices, including wired and wireless connectivity solutions.
- Lead and contribute to electronics architecture, design, and product development activities, including: Schematic capture
- PCB layout and design reviews
- Board bring-up and validation
- Product release support

- Collaborate with local and remote PCB designers to establish layout requirements and design constraints, including: Board stack-up definition
- Component placement
- Grounding strategies
- Power distribution and routing
- High-speed signal routing
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM)

- Develop, test, and troubleshoot embedded firmware and real-time control systems.
- Utilize modern development tools and processes, including GitHub, Jira, and Visual Studio .
- Create and analyze power converter and control system simulations using MATLAB, Simulink, and PSpice .
- Investigate and resolve electrical, firmware, and system-level issues using structured root-cause analysis methodologies.
- Support cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in electrical and embedded systems design.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, and MATLAB .
- Experience with: Embedded firmware development
- Microcontrollers and real-time systems
- Analog and digital circuit design
- PCB design and layout
- Power electronics and power conversion systems
- Hardware bring-up and validation

- Proficiency with Altium Designer or comparable PCB design tools.
- Experience using engineering collaboration and development tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Visual Studio.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with FPGA design and integration.
- Knowledge of wireless communication technologies.
- Experience developing low-power, battery-operated electronic products.
- Familiarity with manufacturing support, DFM principles, and product commercialization.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $62.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
