Land Surveyor
Location: Armonk, NY (On-Site) Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience Level: Entry-Level to Early Career (6 Months - 3 Years) Industry: Land Surveying, Civil Engineering & Construction
## About the Opportunity
A well-established engineering and surveying firm is seeking a Land Surveyor to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their surveying career who is looking to gain hands-on field experience while developing technical skills in surveying, drafting, and data collection. The ideal candidate will have experience performing field surveys, operating GPS and survey equipment, and supporting survey documentation and drafting efforts. This role offers exposure to a variety of projects while providing mentorship, career development, and long-term growth opportunities within a collaborative team environment.
## Key Responsibilities
Perform topographical surveys, boundary surveys, utility surveys, and construction layout activities Collect accurate field data using GPS equipment and modern surveying instruments Set up, operate, and maintain survey equipment including GPS receivers, total stations, and data collection devices Utilize reports, maps, engineering plans, drawings, and aerial photography to assess project requirements Transfer field data into appropriate software platforms for drafting and analysis Support the preparation of survey drawings, plats, and documentation Assist with drafting and survey-related design tasks using Civil 3D Perform measurements, calculations, and adjustments to ensure survey accuracy Work safely and effectively in outdoor environments and active construction sites Participate in office-based drafting and CAD work when field activities are limited by weather conditions Collaborate with project teams to support successful project execution
## Required Qualifications
6 months to 3 years of experience in land surveying or a closely related field Experience performing topographical surveys, boundary surveys, utility surveys, and construction layouts Experience utilizing GPS equipment and standard surveying instruments Knowledge of surveying equipment such as Topcon , Leica , Carlson , or Total Station systems Proficiency with Civil 3D Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maps, plans, and survey documents Strong mathematical and analytical skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions High School Diploma or equivalent Strong interest in building a long-term career in land surveying
## Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field Experience with drone survey technology and data collection Previous drafting experience in a surveying or civil engineering environment Experience supporting survey plats, legal descriptions, and construction layout documentation Familiarity with data processing and survey software workflows

## Work Environment
On-site role with a combination of field and office responsibilities Typical schedule is 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Report directly to project sites for field assignments Outdoor work in varying weather conditions is required Office-based CAD and drafting work performed during inclement weather Collaborative, energetic, and supportive team culture Opportunities to participate in company-sponsored events and recreational activities Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New London, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
