Job Title: Human Resources Administrator Job Description The Human Resources Administrator plays a key role in supporting and enhancing HR programs across the organization, including training and development, performance management, benefits and leave administration, recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, HR policy management, compliance, payroll processing, and HR reporting. This position helps foster a positive workplace culture, ensures accurate and compliant HR processes, and partners closely with leaders and employees to support organizational success. Responsibilities
- Administer HR programs related to training and development, performance management, benefits, leave management, recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, HR policy management, compliance, payroll processing, and HR reporting.
- Promote a positive workplace culture and actively build strong relationships with employees to support a safe and healthy work environment.
- Support employee development initiatives, including new employee reviews, annual performance appraisals, and personal development plans.
- Partner with management on employee performance management to minimize gaps in job expectations and promote success for both employees and the organization.
- Conduct research and data analysis to identify opportunities to improve employee training and development programs.
- Support the administration of employee benefits programs and serve as a liaison between employees and benefit providers.
- Educate employees on benefit plans, available resources, and assist with claims-related questions.
- Administer leave of absence processes and procedures while maintaining confidentiality and security of sensitive employee information in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Promote workplace wellness initiatives, educational programs, and employee engagement activities.
- Support strategic recruiting initiatives and facilitate the full-cycle recruitment process from job posting through onboarding.
- Maintain relationships with colleges, universities, trade schools, and community partners to sustain a strong talent pipeline.
- Stay informed on labor market trends, compensation benchmarks, and recruiting best practices, and use market research and data analysis to recommend improvements to recruiting efforts and talent attraction strategies.
- Provide guidance and support to managers in resolving employee relations matters.
- Assist HR leadership with workplace investigations and employee concerns.
- Advise operations and business leaders on HR policy interpretation and implementation.
- Promote compliance with employee handbook policies and respond to HR policy inquiries.
- Track HR metrics, extract data from HR systems, and compile reports for distribution.
- Monitor compliance with HR policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Ensure timely completion of required reporting, including EEO-1 reporting, veteran status reporting, Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements, and affirmative action program reporting.
- Provide backup support for end-to-end payroll processing, including reviewing timecards, calculating wages, and administering direct deposits.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve pay discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with onboarding and employee separations, and maintain accurate employee records within the organization’s HRIS/ERP system.
- Work effectively with a workforce of 200 or more employees, including union employees, and support HR processes in a unionized environment.
- Analyze HR and workforce data, synthesize findings, and provide clear recommendations to stakeholders.
- Proactively communicate with and engage appropriate stakeholders, defining and implementing action plans to address HR issues and opportunities.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a results-oriented approach in all HR activities and projects.
Essential Skills
- 1–3+ years of human resources experience, with a minimum of three years of experience in Human Resources or Labor Relations preferred.
- Experience supporting HR functions for a workforce of 200 or more employees.
- Experience working with union employees and in unionized environments.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment, labor, and benefits legislation and regulations.
- Experience with onboarding processes and HR administrative support.
- Experience processing payroll and supporting end-to-end payroll activities.
- HR and payroll system knowledge, including prior experience with HR Information Systems and ERP/HRIS platforms.
- Strong data entry skills and accuracy in maintaining HR records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to navigate conflict effectively while maintaining positive and productive relationships.
- Ability to analyze data, synthesize information, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Results-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is beneficial.
- Prior experience in construction, manufacturing, or other related industries is preferred.
- Human Resources Certification such as PHR or SPHR is preferred.
- Experience supporting HR programs such as training and development, performance management, benefits administration, leave management, recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, HR policy management, compliance, and HR reporting.
- Experience maintaining relationships with educational institutions and community partners to support recruiting efforts.
- Familiarity with labor market trends, compensation benchmarks, and recruiting best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively communicate and engage the correct stakeholders when implementing HR initiatives or action plans.
Work Environment This is a full-time role in a professional office environment, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position involves regular use of HR systems, ERP/HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to manage HR processes and reporting. You will collaborate closely with employees, managers, and leadership across the organization, including working with a workforce of 200 or more employees and union employees. This is a Permanent position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
