About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga We have an exciting opportunity for a Market & Competitor Insights Analyst to join the Food Service team within our Strategy & Growth portfolio. This role delivers customer, market, and competitor insights that support strategic decision-making across the business. This is a permanent position, based either in Auckland or in South East Asia.
In this role, you’ll work closely with market strategy and innovation teams to gather, analyse, and translate data into clear, actionable recommendations. From identifying emerging market trends and customer needs through to preparing insight materials for business planning, innovation pipelines, and go-to-market discussions, you’ll play a key role in ensuring decisions are informed by robust evidence and meaningful insights.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, using AI to simplify our intelligence gathering, turning complexity into clear narratives, and working with team mates to influence business decisions.
Key activities:
- New Product Trends Tracking - Use AI tools to identify global new product trends in the Food Service channel and build automated reports for our Product Innovation and Customer Sales Teams.
- Product Innovation Market Research – Brief and manage research agencies in Asia to complete qualitative and quantitative research projects to identify customer unmet needs, and evaluate new dairy food product concept ideas for the Food Service Channel. Support our Innovation teams to interpret the findings and build the innovation pipeline.
- Brand Health Tracking – Brief and manage research agency to deliver brand health tracking for Anchor Food Professionals across Asia and also Anchor retail brand in China. Support our marketing teams to interpret the findings and make action plans to grow brand health.
- Competitor Intelligence – Review new AI tools in order to build an automated ‘always on’ competitor study, summarise findings and communicate implications to key stakeholders.
- Insights Farm – Improve the ingestion of Asian market driven Food Service data and insights into Fonterra’s AI Insights Farm AI tool, in order to be the ‘one stop shop’ for dairy and related industry knowledge.

General Skills
- Generate timely customer, market, and competitor insights to support business understanding and decision-making.
- Translate complex information into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Support the development and maintenance of insight tools, data sources, and reporting processes.
- Partner with strategy, innovation and marketing teams to provide evidence-based insight.
- Help embed customer and market perspectives into business planning, innovation pipelines, and go-to-market strategies.

About You | Mōu You’ll be a curious and analytical thinker who enjoys problem solving and using AI tools to turn data into meaningful insights that support better business decisions. With strong attention to detail and a natural ability to make sense of complex information, you’ll be confident working across customer, market, and competitor data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
You’ll bring strong communication skills and the ability to translate insights into clear, compelling stories for a range of stakeholders. You’ll enjoy working with cross-functional teams and playing a key role in helping shape strategy, innovation, and go-to-market decisions.
You will also bring
- A love of research, data interpretation, insight generation, and problem solving.
- Enjoy testing new AI tools or creating AI agents to enable you to do your job efficiently.
- Confidence developing reports, dashboards, summaries, or insight materials.
- Experience in customer, market, commercial, or business analysis.
- The ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations and business narratives.
- Ability to read Mandarin Chinese is a plus (but not essential)
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in business, marketing, commerce, analytics, economics, or a related field.
