Job Requirements

The Career & Technology Studies Technician assists and supervises students in the repair and maintenance of automotive vehicles and automotive body repairs in the shop. The Technician may be specialized as an Automotive Service Technician or Automotive Body Technician.

Specific Accountabilities

- Assists and supervises students; ensures security for tools and lab; assists the teacher in ensuring that procedures related to safety and cleanliness are followed by students at all times
- Performs routine maintenance of equipment and tools used in the program
- Prepares work orders and billing records; orders parts and supplies, completes inventory and tracks usage
- Completes work orders, checks for correct pricing on parts and liaises with the business office for deposit and collections
- Discusses work required and completed with customers
- Provides final approval of repairs prior to releasing vehicle to customers (provided qualified)
- Supports other Career & Technology Studies areas

Qualifications

- Category 10 – High School diploma and completion of first year apprenticeship towards trades certification
- Category 14 – Journeyman/ Red Seal Certification
- Experience and/or training in auto body or other related disciplines of automotive mechanics
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License class 5
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates
- Knowledge of oxyacetylene welding, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, paint preparation and painting practices
- Proficient with Microsoft Office

Salary

$27.20 - $32.74 per hour (Category 10)

$36.00 - $43.73 per hour (Category 14)
