Clerk - Justice of the Peace Precinct 1
We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Clerk to join a high-volume Justice of the Peace Court. This position plays an important role in supporting daily court operations while providing professional and courteous service to the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform specialized clerical and administrative duties using legal terminology and procedures within the Justice of the Peace court system.
- Process and maintain files, records, and legal documents related to civil, criminal, truancy, and juvenile proceedings.
- Enter, update, and maintain information in computer systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Respond to inquiries and assist members of the public in a professional, helpful manner.
- Receive and process payments for court fees, fines, and other applicable charges.
- Balance and reconcile cash drawers accurately.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume court environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive court information.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous administrative assistant or comparable clerical experience.
- Previous cash-handling experience.
- Strong reception and customer service skills.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain organized in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with the public.
