PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating commercial and personal financial information to assess the creditworthiness of loan applicants and existing borrowers. This position gathers, analyzes, and interprets financial data to support sound lending decisions, prepares credit presentations and loan committee packages, and provides recommendations regarding credit risk. The Credit Analyst works closely with lenders, loan committee, and management to ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and prudent lending practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather, spread, analyze, and interpret customer financial information, including financial statements, tax returns, business plans, credit reports, collateral information, cash flow reports, and industry data.
Evaluate commercial and consumer loan requests by assessing repayment capacity, liquidity, leverage, profitability, collateral adequacy, and overall credit risk.
Prepare comprehensive credit presentations, loan memorandums, and loan committee packages that clearly identify key strengths, weaknesses, risks, and mitigating factors.
Present analyses and recommendations to loan committees, management, and other decision-making groups as needed.
Determine compliance with the Bank's loan policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Advise lenders, management, and loan committee members regarding customer financial information, credit risk, and loan structure.
Analyze larger and more complex credit relationships and transactions.
Conduct portfolio monitoring and management activities, including annual reviews, covenant tracking, risk rating reviews, and exception monitoring.
Prepare monthly board reports, management reports, portfolio reports, and other special projects as assigned.
Perform collateral inspections, site visits, and real estate evaluations as required.
Accompany lenders on customer calls, business visits, and property inspections to gain a thorough understanding of borrowing relationships.
Conduct customer calls and credit-related discussions independently when appropriate.
Identify emerging credit concerns and recommend appropriate corrective action. Maintain a thorough understanding of economic conditions, industry trends, and factors affecting portfolio risk.
Assist in the development and maintenance of credit administration procedures and best practices.
Perform additional duties and projects assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, or a related field required.
Experience
Minimum of 2+ years of commercial credit analysis, lending, banking, or similar financial analysis experience required.
Demonstrated experience analyzing commercial financial statements, personal financial statements, and tax returns.
Experience preparing and presenting credit memorandums and loan recommendations.
Experience evaluating collateral, cash flow, and loan structure.
Experience managing or supporting commercial loan portfolios preferred.
Community banking experience preferred.

Thorough understanding of commercial lending principles, credit risk assessment, and financial statement analysis.
Ability to evaluate complex borrowing relationships and make sound credit recommendations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to management and loan committees.
Ability to exercise sound judgment while balancing risk management and customer service objectives.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and applicable credit analysis software.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with lenders, credit administration, and executive management.
