Immediate Supervisor: External Programs Manager

Job Summary :  The Registered Dietitian supports the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the West Texas Food Bank's Nourish & Learn and Kids Café Programs under the direction of the External Programs Manager. This position provides nutrition expertise through nutrition education, curriculum and resource development, community outreach, program coordination, food service support, and data collection and evaluation. The Registered Dietitian will work closely with community partners, program staff, nutrition educators, volunteers, and other WTFB departments to ensure programs are implemented effectively and in accordance with organizational policies, program requirements, and applicable nutrition, food safety, CACFP, and SFSP guidelines.

The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and data-driven, with the ability to work independently while communicating regularly with the External Programs Manager. The position requires the ability to travel to community and program sites and to work in office, warehouse, kitchen, and community settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop and teach nutrition education classes and food demonstrations in surrounding areas using evidence-based practices and approved curricula

- Provide training, mentoring, and support to nutrition educators as assigned

- Develop and implement nutrition education materials for in-person or virtual distribution

- Review program data and participant feedback

- Monitor program activities to ensure they are implemented according to organizational policies, program requirements, and funding guidelines

- Coordinate, document, and implement Produce Drops and other nutrition-related food distributions as assigned

- Assist with identifying and establishing new community partnerships and program sites

- Assist the External Programs Manager with the day-to-day coordination and administration of the Kids Café Program

- Conduct site visits and provide technical assistance and communication to Kids Café sites

- Assist with supervision and training of Kids Café cooks and site staff as assigned

- Assist with reviewing program documentation and preparing reimbursement claims

- Identify and communicate program concerns to the External Programs Manager and assist with corrective actions as needed

- Plan and prepare foods in accordance with the CACFP and SFSP nutritional guidelines

- Maintain established standards of sanitation, safety, food preparation, and food storage as required by applicable health regulations and WTFB policies

- Collect, enter, track, and maintain program data and documentation in accordance with program, audit, and funding requirements

- Provide administrative support to the External Programs Manager

- May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or a related field

- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, or eligibility for registration as an RDN

- Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a dietitian in the state of Texas, as applicable

- Food Handler or Manager certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire

- Proficient in computer programs such as Outlook, Excel, Canva, and Word

- Good organizational, decision-making, and interpersonal skills

- Professional telephone and email etiquette

- Demonstrate professionalism and speak respectfully when interacting with staff, volunteers and the public

- High level of personal integrity and honesty

- Must pass a background check

- Valid Driver License and reliable transportation, ability to drive within our 19 counties

- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on program schedules

- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

- Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, including food, educational materials, boxes, and other program supplies. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in warehouse, kitchen, and office environments as required
