General Description: Under immediate supervision, the Surgical Support Technician is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the Surgical Suites
Essential Responsibilities:

- Transports patients, specimens, supplies, blood, and equipment as directed.
- Ensures all procedures are followed for the safe transport of blood and other specimens.
- Responsible for transporting patients and families to appropriate areas or waiting rooms.
- Observes and communicates any changes, such as patient not being ready, to the OR desk or charge nurse.
- May be required to take emergency action.
- Helps move and position patients in the Surgical Suite as needed.
- Completes required documentation.
- Immediately reports any changes in patient’s condition during transport.
- Performs daily and/or weekly cleaning within the Surgical Suites.
- Follows established procedures and guidelines for cleaning operating rooms.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the department which includes cleaning hallways, bathrooms, lounges, and supply areas.
- Complies with all relevant procedures and regulations related to hospital sanitation, cleanliness, and safety.
- Ensures that all procedures and regulations for proper disposal of waste items and material are followed.
- Responsible for restocking supplies, linens, and solutions.
- Performs other support services as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: No experience required.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff and patients.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform effectively in an emergency situation.
