Job Title: Chemical Lab Technician Job Description As a Chemical Lab Technician, you will work hands-on in a laboratory setting, conducting a variety of tests on metal products. This position involves preparing samples and performing tests to certify various types of metal products. Responsibilities
- Prepare metal samples using power and industrial tools including saws, grinders, and furnaces.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Chemist/Chemist Level II to analyze client samples.
- Perform routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and qualification of laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot laboratory instruments as needed.
- Conduct day-to-day operational activities including housekeeping and maintaining laboratory notebooks.
- Prepare reports and document results of tests.
- Ensure test machines are properly calibrated before use.
- Follow detailed written and verbal procedures accurately.
- Understand and apply mathematical concepts in daily tasks.
Essential Skills
- 1-2 years of industrial lab experience, preferably in metals but open to other inorganic chemistry testing.
- Sample prep experience with inorganic products
- Experience handling power tools such as grinders, saws, polishers, and drills.
- Basic lab skills and inorganic lab experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- An associate degree along with a high school diploma.
- 1.5-2 years of chemistry lab experience, preferably in a metals lab or inorganics lab.
- Hobby or experience in hands-on mechanic, construction, or shop work is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and a willingness to work in a dirty lab environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melrose Park, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
