Description

Duties and Responsibilities

- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments, diagnostic tests, surgeries, and procedures
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and referral requirements
- Answer inbound calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally and compassionately
- Coordinate schedules between physicians, departments, and patients
- Ensure all appointments comply with physician availability and hospital protocols
- Obtain prior authorizations and referrals when required.
- Communicate appointment instructions, preparation requirements, and follow-up information to patients
- Monitor scheduling conflicts and resolve issues promptly
- Schedules hospital based medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot. Utilizing appropriate scheduling codes to maximize efficiency
- Enters notes & special instructions needed for the procedure in the proper areas
- Works in the PLE to provide an estimate of the procedure to the patient

Regulatory Requirements

- Completes annual educational requirements within the assigned time frame
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital
