About this role
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description
This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on designing and integrating complex aerospace components and assemblies using Siemens NX, with a strong emphasis on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards. You will contribute to the development of advanced reusable satellite platforms and related infrastructure, helping make access to orbit more reliable and repeatable. The position suits an engineer who thrives in a dynamic, high-stakes environment and enjoys working at the forefront of aerospace innovation.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs for aerospace components and assemblies using Siemens NX.
- Author clear, accurate engineering drawings that apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Create, maintain, and improve Siemens NX model and drawing templates to support consistent design practices.
- Perform surface dimensioning for composite components to ensure manufacturability and structural integrity.
- Integrate mechanical designs into larger aerospace systems, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Review, update, and refine existing designs to improve performance, reliability, and ease of manufacturing.
- Support design reviews by preparing models, drawings, and documentation that clearly communicate design intent.
- Work effectively in a dynamic, high-stakes engineering environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, processes, and tools within the engineering organization.
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to author drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX for 2D and 3D mechanical design and integration.
- Experience creating model and drawing templates in Siemens NX.
- Experience with surface dimensioning for composite components.
- Background in aerospace mechanical engineering or closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a dynamic, high-stakes engineering environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, manufacturable engineering drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on aerospace systems, spacecraft, or satellite platforms.
- Familiarity with reusable or high-reliability mechanical systems.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including structures, manufacturing, and systems engineering.
- Strong communication skills for presenting design concepts and participating in design reviews.
Work Environment
The role offers a flexible office and remote work environment, allowing you to contribute both on-site and from a remote location as project needs dictate. You will work primarily with digital engineering tools, particularly Siemens NX, to create and manage 2D and 3D models and drawings for aerospace applications. The broader culture centers on building next-generation orbital infrastructure and reusable satellite platforms, with a fast-paced, innovation-driven atmosphere typical of high-stakes aerospace engineering. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and participation in design reviews are integral parts of the day-to-day work.
