JOB DESCRIPTION
Mascot Performer Job Description:
- Represent Colorado Mesa University as the Rowdy Mascot at campus, athletic, and community events.
- Preserve Rowdy’s character and personality to present a consistent mascot experience, continuously working to perfect Rowdy’s identity.
- Interact with fans of all ages, creating memorable experiences.
- Uphold CMUs brand and perform skits at events, creating routines that reflect CMU’s core values: love, dignity, courage, humility, resilience, curiosity and power.
- While in costume, never let your own identity be known to the public, using nonverbal communication to interact with audiences.
- Attend weekly practice sessions to enhance Mascot performances.
- Ensure the Mascot costume and props are well-maintained and kept in good condition.
- Be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, maintaining a workout and conditioning regimen.
As a Mascot Handler:
- Oversee the physical well-being of the mascot in the face of fans or hazards at venues.
- Be the mascot spokesperson, speaking up for the mascot when the need arises.
- Carry out emergency repairs of the mascot costume at venues.
- Capture photos at events.
Qualifications:
- Must be a current student enrolled at Colorado Mesa University.
- Reliable and punctual with the ability to adhere to a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to withstand the physical demands of performing in a costume, including standing, walking, and performing in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Preferred height: above 5’6”
