Accountabilities
- Review and approve financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries prepared by accounting team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Review and sign off on individual and business tax returns before filing, serving as a critical technical checkpoint in the tax workflow.
- Identify, investigate, and correct errors, inconsistencies, or technical issues in work prepared by staff.
- Provide technical guidance, feedback, and support to staff accountants to strengthen quality and professional development.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding complex, sensitive, or technical accounting and tax matters.
- Help develop, refine, and document internal review procedures, workflows, and quality-control processes.
- Support a consistent, efficient, and high-quality accounting and tax operation within a fully remote environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting or tax, including substantial experience performing review-level responsibilities.
- Active CPA license required, or CPA requirements nearly completed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP and individual and business taxation principles.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving the work of other accounting or tax professionals.
- Experience working with remote or geographically distributed teams, including offshore team members, is valuable.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and maintain high standards in a fully remote environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, particularly when explaining technical issues to colleagues and clients.
- Strong judgment, accountability, and the ability to provide constructive technical feedback.
