Role:
A selective, hands-on development opportunity for high-potential professionals preparing for a long-term career in banking.
Selected individuals participate in an intentional experience that can provide exposure to multiple areas of the bank, including retail banking, business banking, credit administration, and other areas. The goal of the program is to develop a broad understanding of banking while identifying the individuals strengths, interests and potential for long-term advancement.
The development period will range in term depending on the individuals experience, performance, development needs, and career path. The Banking Development Associate works alongside experienced bankers, receives hands-on training, assumes increasing levels of responsibility, and cross-trains in multiple areas of the bank.
Qualifications
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
15% Cross trains for retail teller/branch operations roles. Obtains a good understanding/working knowledge of teller operations. Assists with processing customer withdrawals, transfers, deposits, and loan payments. Balances cash drawer. Provides a welcoming customer experience while developing an understanding of branch operations, controls, and security procedures.
30% Cross trains for retail universal banker roles. Performs all sales and service duties by understanding lending functions and banking products and services. Meets scorecard objectives. Assists customers with opening and closing deposit and loan accounts, answering questions about products and services, and resolving problems that are within their authority to resolve. Completes timely reports on calls, scorecards, exceptions, maturities and other information requests. Identifies cross-sell opportunities and makes referrals to appropriate line of business partners.
20% Cross trains for business banking roles. Explains services to potential customers and assists with identifying opportunities to deepen business relationships and appropriately refer customers to business banking partners. Acquires a working understanding of enrolling commercial customers in all cash management delivery channels (ACH, wire, RDC and positive pay). Provides instructions and contracts to new and existing commercial customers. Knowledge of internet banking processes, including delivery of products, providing instruction to customers, assisting customers with internet banking related issues including access and functionality. Observes and participates in business banker customer interactions and relationship-development activities when appropriate. Engages in bank public relations and community involvement activities, both during and outside of regular business hours, to develop relationships and strengthen the banks brand presence.
20% Cross trains for credit administration roles. Acquires a working knowledge of credit administrative processes. Performs credit admin functions such as system maintenance, loan review, exception follow-up, exception reporting, insurance monitoring, and collateral releases. Comprehends the underwriting process by providing decisions on loans timely and within bank guidelines and recommend decisions on requests outside of loan authority. Communicates with the Retail staff in all phases of loans. Ensures that the compliance of regulations, policies and procedures are within guidelines/underwriting to the highest level.
10% Maintains customer account information on the computer system, while working within all regulatory guidelines.
5% Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Builds relationships with bankers throughout the organization and seeks opportunities to learn from experienced professionals.
- Participates in bank meetings, training programs, community activities, and other experiences that broaden understanding of the bank and its role in the community.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Maintains confidentiality of customer and bank information.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: 1 year business or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and demonstrated potential
Education: Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and superior communication skills in both conversational and written communication.
Physical Requirements: The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
