Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description
Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer where you will provide engineering and technical support, ensuring the preparation and review of technical documentation and drawings. This role involves collaborating with various teams to assist in design reviews and coordinate documentation for custom tanks, pressure vessels, and steel components.
Responsibilities
- Prepare approval, shop, and fabrication drawings along with supporting technical documentation.
- Review customer specifications, project plans, contract documents, and technical requirements.
- Assist with design reviews for custom tanks, pressure vessels, and fabricated steel components.
- Coordinate engineering documentation between customers, vendors, outside engineers, and internal teams.
- Help maintain drawing revisions, project records, design notes, and technical submittals.
- Support technical reviews related to tank configuration and related fabrication requirements.
- Create and revise 2D drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Translate customer requirements into clear drawings for review and interpretation.
- Assist with drawing packages for customer approvals, stamped engineering submittals, and internal shop use.
- Work with the shop team to clarify details, revise drawings, and resolve fabrication questions.
- Support project managers and production staff in progressing jobs from award through delivery.
- Monitor project schedules, drawing deadlines, material needs, and production milestones.
- Coordinate communication between engineering, production, sales, purchasing, inspection, and customers.
- Track open action items and follow up to ensure projects move forward.
- Assist with organizing project documentation, customer submittals, closeout packages, and related records.
- Assist with material takeoffs, vendor quotations, and purchasing support as needed.
- Generate and track purchase orders for materials, components, coatings, and accessories.
- Follow up with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, material availability, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain material tracking logs and procurement documentation.
- Support QA documentation, inspection records, and customer-required paperwork.
- Review inspection reports and production documentation for completeness.
- Assist with identifying process improvements in drafting, documentation, communication, and production support.
- Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and follow-through.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, technical drawings, and manufactured components.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, bills of materials, tables, charts, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Comfortable working directly with office staff, shop personnel, vendors, customers, and outside engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 0–3+ years of engineering, drafting, manufacturing, fabrication, or project coordination experience.
- Experience in steel fabrication, pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping, structural steel, or industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with UL, STI, API, AWS, or other mechanical/fabrication standards.
- Experience with project coordination, purchasing, vendor follow-up, or quality documentation.
- Exposure to fabrication drawings, shop drawings, customer submittals, or engineered approval packages.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, project tracking tools, and general business software.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleboro, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
