Job Description

Your Role:   Broadcast Journalist (London) / Classic FM

You’ll find,   write,   verify and tell the stories that matter to our audiences, producing accurate, compelling and timely news content for   Classic FM news bulletins and   Global’s other broadcast platforms.

As a Broadcast Journalist at Global, you will:

Key Responsibilities:

•   R eading news bulletins for Classic FM, the UK’s most popular classical music station .   •   Write clear, engaging and accurate scripts   with the Classic FM audience in min d .   •   Work closely with the News Editor and wider newsroom to prioritise stories, respond quickly to developing events and ensure all output meets editorial, legal and compliance standards.   •   Share story ideas and updates with colleagues, contribute to forward planning and support news coverage across the news team when required.   •   As part of your   duties   you may also write and read news bulletins on other Global stations including LBC, Smooth Radio and Riviera Radio. •   Contribute engaging, platform-native video journalism for the LBC News YouTube and TikTok channels, embracing   Global’s   video-first approach to reach audiences wherever they consume news.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

•   Built a strong understanding of   Global’s   news brands,   the Classic FM   audience and editorial processes. •   Developed productive relationships with   newsroom colleague s   in London and across the UK, Classic FM presenters, producers and the wider Classic FM team.   •   Produced accurate, well-written news content to deadline   with the Classic FM audience in mind.   •   Demonstrated sound editorial judgement and confidence when handling breaking news. •   Contributed   ideas   to the LBC News YouTube and TikTok channels   and supported the team’s daily news coverage.

What You’ll Need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

•   Journalism experience :   at least three   years e xperience   of gathering, writing and producing news content in a broadcast, digital or newsroom environment. •   Strong news judgement : The ability to identify stories that are relevant, accurate and meaningful to audiences. •   Excellent writing skills : A clear, concise writing style, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different platforms. •   Accuracy and integrity : A rigorous approach to   fact-checking , impartiality and working within editorial and legal guidelines. •   Organisation under pressure : The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and remain calm during fast-moving news events. •   Collaboration and communication : Strong interpersonal skills and a constructive approach to working as part of a team.
