About this role

F riends University is seeking to fill the Groundskeeper position in Wichita Kansas. This position assists with the maintenance of all campus grounds seasonally from approximately March 1 through November 30. The position also assists with all general maintenance tasks assigned by the Director of Physical Plant from approximately December 1 through February 28.

Qualifications

Two years experience in grounds or related environment required, as is knowledge of riding mowers, lawn tractors, gas-powered edger, and trimmers, lawn vacuum, hedge trimmers, utility vehicle, and various hand tools; general maintenance experience is desired.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme hot and cold working conditions, loud noise environments; lift 100 pounds; walk and/or stand for long periods of time, and climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Working in the boiler room requires being exposed to non-weather wet, humid conditions and extreme heat; working inside freezers requires being exposed to extreme non-weather cold. Position also requires work in high, precarious places, exposure to noxious odors, and electrical shock.

Handling pesticides causes exposure to toxic fumes and caustic chemicals. Working with all the different types of grounds machinery causes exposure to vibration.
A valid drivers license is required for this position. A motor vehicle report will be run to verify insurability and to become an approved driver by the Universitys insurance carrier.
