Public Works Driver / Labourer

Reports To: Public Works Director

Position Summary

Potlotek First Nation is seeking a reliable and hardworking Public Works Driver / Labourer to support the daily operations of the Public Works Department.

The position includes operating Public Works vehicles and equipment, including the dump truck , assisting with garbage collection, snow removal, transportation of materials, general maintenance, and other Public Works duties . This position is not limited to driving and requires regular physical labour.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate the dump truck and other assigned Public Works vehicles.

- Collect and transport residential and community garbage and waste.

- Assist with snow plowing, sanding, salting, and manual snow removal.

- Transport gravel, soil, equipment, waste, and other materials.

- Complete vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.

- Assist with community clean-ups, maintenance, repairs, landscaping, and general labour.

- Load and unload materials, tools, garbage, and equipment.

- Respond to Public Works emergencies and snow events as required.

- Perform other related duties assigned by the Public Works Director.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Valid driver's license appropriate for assigned vehicles.

- Experience operating trucks, dump trucks, snow removal equipment, or heavy equipment is an asset.

- Class 3 license and air brake endorsement are considered strong assets.

- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.

- Ability to perform repetitive lifting and physically demanding work.

- Ability to work outdoors in snow, rain, heat, and cold.

- Reliable, safety-minded, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

- Must be available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, or additional hours during snowstorms and emergencies when required.

A Driver's Abstract and Criminal Record Check are required.

Preference may be given to qualified Indigenous applicants in accordance with Potlotek First Nation hiring practices.
