Job Title: Buyer Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Buyer to join our team and play a critical role in managing material requirements and supplier relationships. This position involves working closely with the Purchasing Manager and production staff to ensure material availability and timely delivery, contributing to the overall efficiency of our supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Purchasing Manager with sourcing, ordering, and expediting materials.
- Manage MRP changes with the supply base to support material availability.
- Review and validate immediate and forecasted purchase requirements.
- Update and modify purchase orders and inventory schedules as needed.
- Schedule purchased parts to support production schedules and service requirements.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any constraints.
- Improve supplier relationships and serve as the primary contact for designated suppliers.
- Manage inventory balances to meet turnover goals and customer flexibility requirements.
- Select vendors to purchase parts at the most cost-effective price while meeting quality standards.
- Monitor production flow to ensure timely movement of materials.
- Assist with monthly cycle counts and maintain records associated with purchasing.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork and documentation.
- Comply with safety and work regulations, maintaining departmental housekeeping standards.
- Work closely with production staff to identify and process non-conforming materials.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in inventory control and management.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, and supplier management.
- Expertise in MRP/ERP systems, with preferred experience in JD Edwards.
- Strong skills in data analysis, technical data interpretation, Excel, and Word.
- Professional negotiation skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Problem-solving skills with a solutions-driven approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production, accounting, sales, and management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Procurement/Acquisitions, Business Analytics, International Business, or Information Systems.
- Certifications such as CPM, CPSM, CSM, or CPIM are advantageous.
Work Environment
This position operates from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, primarily in an indoor office environment with frequent sitting. Occasional exposure to a manufacturing environment may occur, including noise and outdoor conditions. The role may require lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally. The employee will frequently attend meetings and use personal computers and other office equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection, is required as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Wooster, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
