Job Title: Construction Superintendent Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee a complex healthcare construction project within an active operating facility. This role involves managing daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience in occupied healthcare environments and be adept at coordinating work around critical facility operations, including occasional after-hours activities and utility shutdowns.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day field operations for assigned projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Develop and manage three-week look-ahead schedules.
- Plan and coordinate utility shutdowns and critical facility activities.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Conduct daily site walks and progress meetings.
- Lead toolbox talks and site safety meetings.
- Monitor subcontractor productivity and project milestones.
- Maintain daily reports, project logs, and progress photography.
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Work closely with project management to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Coordinate inspections and assist with project closeout activities.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or General Superintendent.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Proficiency with Procore.
- Experience managing commercial or healthcare construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules as project needs require.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working within active hospitals or healthcare facilities.
- Experience supporting federal construction projects.
- Familiarity with USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) or NAVFAC standards.
- Construction Quality Management (CQM-C) certification or willingness to obtain.
- Healthcare renovation, infrastructure, or medical equipment installation experience.
- USACE Certification.
- Ability to travel throughout the northeast.
Work Environment
The role is onsite Monday to Friday in West Haven at an active hospital site. Approximately 10-15% of work may need to be completed outside the normal 7am-5pm window. This position offers the opportunity to engage in a technical federal project with potential for permanent placement. The company is a minority-owned firm.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of West Haven, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $68.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
