About this role
Incumbent will perform duties as an Operating Room Assistant to include: patient care; blood products, specimens, and equipment transport; equipment maintenance, environmental sanitation, restocking supplies, cleaning soiled supplies, storing and distributing anesthesia support materials. Other duties include but are not limited to customer service and departmental efficiencies. The OR Asst is under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse or OR lead member, also To cover multiple LOA/FMLA, Assignments are given according to organizational goals. Goal attainment is reviewed on an as needed basis within the UCLA Health System Surgery Center.
Salary Range: $ 29.44/hr
- At least 6 months OR assistant experience required
- Basic knowledge of operating room sanitation
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull heavy weight.
- Knowledge of body mechanics principles.
- Knowledge of cleaning, sterilization, and disinfections of anesthesia materials, equipment and machines.
- Ability to read and interpret operational manuals and follow troubleshooting guidelines.
- Ability to read and speak English to obtain or provide information.
- Skill in setting priorities to complete work in a timely manner.
- Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Skill in performing under the stress of frequent interruptions and /or distractions.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members.
- Ability to improve existing skills by participating in various training programs.
- Ability to accept shift changes to meet the department’s needs.
