Job Title: Gate Inspector Job Description
The Gate Inspector is responsible for inspecting containers arriving and departing from the railroad facility using an automated computerized gate system. This role also involves inspecting trailers and containers for damage and completing necessary paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Inspect all intermodal units for unit numbers and damage using an automated computerized gate system.
- Maintain accuracy of all trailer/container inspections, ensuring all security seals are intact.
- Oversee and document any damage to arriving or departing units with timeliness and accuracy.
- Clearly outline and communicate all damage incurred on appropriate forms and/or computer system with direct supervisor.
- Understand the risk assessment and risk management process to help identify, evaluate, and manage potential risks.
- Maintain a quality environment where performance inspections are handled safely and remain accident and injury-free.
- Ensure compliance under HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations, including reporting any incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Communicate clearly with truck drivers while performing inspections.
- Identify terminal lanes not in use by placing appropriate cones to notify drivers.
- Be familiar with all parts and nomenclature of the various areas of the intermodal units while maintaining a safe distance from moving vehicles.
- Complete all required paperwork for the customer accurately.
Essential Skills
- Ability to stand on feet for 8 hours at a time.
- Professional communication skills with drivers coming in and out of the facility.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to document.
- Capability to work outside in various weather conditions for 8 hours.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- No certifications or education required for this position.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
Work Environment
Candidates will be working inside and outside of the gatehouse. During slower times, they will complete paperwork inside the office. The work environment involves collaboration with one other inspector per shift. Inspectors are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as a safety vest, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and a protective hard hat, when applicable. Shift hours can vary, including 10-6pm, 11-7pm, or 12-8pm, with initial training on an 8-4 pm shift for approximately two weeks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LANGHORNE, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
