Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth for the SpringHill Suites Colorado Springs through proactive sales efforts, account development, relationship management, and strategic market penetration.

This role will focus heavily on identifying and securing new business while maintaining and growing existing accounts across key market segments, including corporate, government, military, project and construction, extended stay, and group business.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys prospecting, developing new accounts, and building strong partnerships throughout the Colorado Springs market.

Responsibilities

Proactively identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities within the Colorado Springs market.

- Manage and grow existing corporate, government, military, project, extended-stay, and group accounts.

- Conduct consistent outside sales calls, site visits, sales tours, networking, and community outreach to generate new business.

- Develop relationships with local businesses, military and government organizations, contractors, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and other key demand generators.

- Respond to leads and RFP opportunities promptly and accurately while meeting established response-time expectations.

- Negotiate rates and agreements within established hotel and revenue-management guidelines.

- Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately document prospecting activity, opportunities, account information, and follow-up within required sales systems.

- Partner closely with the General Manager, Revenue Management, and Regional Sales leadership to identify need periods and develop strategies to drive incremental revenue.

- Participate in revenue and sales meetings and provide updates regarding production, pipeline activity, market intelligence, and upcoming opportunities.

- Monitor competitive hotels, local market conditions, account activity, and new developments to identify opportunities and protect market share.

- Conduct hotel tours and site inspections for prospective clients and represent the hotel at appropriate community, industry, and networking events.

- Maintain accurate contracts, account information, production tracking, and other required sales documentation.

- Support annual budgeting, sales planning, account reviews, RFP season, and other strategic sales initiatives.

Qualifications

- College course work in related field helpful.

- Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

- High School diploma or equivalent required.

- Must be skilled in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.

- Long hours sometimes required.

- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.

- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.

- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

- Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

- Perform other duties as requested by management.

- Previous hotel sales experience strongly preferred.

- Marriott and select-service hotel experience preferred.

- Experience with corporate, government, military, project, extended-stay, and/or group sales is a plus.

- Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication.
