Adult Learning Manager

The minimum starting salary for this position is $58,900.

Job Purpose:

The Adult Learning Program Manager will lead and expand educational initiatives that engage diverse audiences with the natural world. This role is responsible for designing and overseeing both formal and informal education programs to serve all learners while contributing to the Gardens mission of creating transformative and inclusive learning opportunities. The position will also supervise program interns and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Accountability

- Managing learning experiences that connect adults to nature through immersive, hands-on, and STEM learning.

- Leading the financial stewardship of the Adult Learning Programs by helping prepare and manage budgets while optimizing costs to ensure profitability and financial sustainability.

- Identify new areas for growth, innovation, and outreach with a focus on engaging diverse audiences and supporting learning through inquiry-based experiences.

People Management/Interactions

- Building strong relationships with diverse audiences, community partners, industry colleagues, and across departments to advance program objectives and collaboration.

- Recruiting, training, and managing program facilitators, seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers, empowering them to effectively deliver and support learning programs.

- Participating in and contributing to local, statewide, and national professional educational networks that advance FWBGs mission.

- Collaborating with the Guest Experience and Strategic Communications & Growth teams on the development and marketing of program collateral, classes, and events.

Communication

- Evaluating, tracking, and analyzing data from program evaluations, event reports, and registration trends to assess program effectiveness and impact.

- Reporting program metrics through written documents and presentations to staff, grant funders, and key stakeholders.

- Leading, developing and implementing the Adult Learning Programs promotional strategy and content.

- Representing FWBG by attending and presenting at conferences focused on public gardens and environmental education, sharing program innovations, networking with industry peers, and building relationships with institutions that share similar missions.

Qualifications

Competencies: Knowledge and Skills required:

- Knowledge of and experience with current trends in public garden, informal education, and innovations in educational technology, helping to keep programs fresh and dynamic.

- Three years' experience in developing education programs.

- Ability to collaborate in educational environments to develop engaging, nature-based learning experiences.

- Proficiency using TEKS, SEL, and STEM frameworks to design relevant programming that meets educational standards and fosters social-emotional learning.

- Proficiency using a variety of science investigative equipment as well as competent in using Microsoft Office Suite and other software office tasks.

- Organized and disciplined in coordinating multiple programs, ensuring consistency with organization policies and standards and maintaining program materials and schedules.

- Ability to adapt in dynamic educational settings, adjusting programs and activities to meet the changing needs of participants, staff and community partners.

- Understanding of a business-oriented mindset, with an eye for creating programming that aligns with current educational trends and attracts community interest.

- Experience managing people by setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring efforts align with strategic objectives.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in education or science related field.

Additional Job Requirements:

- All employees are expected to possess and be willing and able to use a mobile device for timekeeping and business communications via calls/texts/emails/Teams messages.

- Be adaptable and flexible to changing schedules including occasional weekends and evenings.

- Ability to support and participate in outdoor FWBG public exhibitions and events in Texas weather.
