About this role

The Energy Assistance Coordinator welcomes clients and provides information and instructions to individuals regarding energy assistance.

- Welcome clients and provide information and instructions to individuals regarding assistance.

- Answers telephones.

- Communication: ability to communicate calmly and confidently using active listening skills

- De-escalation: ability to stay alert and diffuse clientele in escalated situations

- Schedules office appointments.

- Interviewing skills: ability to clearly communicate with all clients in order to gather necessary information for better assisting clientele

- Interviews applicants to obtain personal and financial data

- Collect required supporting documentation.

- Organizational skills: ability to keep client files organized and confidential

- Decision Making Skills: ability to use sound judgement, make informed and complex decisions under pressure

- Completes all required forms and maintain accurate client files.

- Calculate level of assistance for each qualified applicant using computerized formula.

- Notify applicants in person or by mail of program eligibility.

- Performs follow up with participants as needed.

- Distributes award and/or pledge letters to or on behalf of qualified applicants, as required.

- Provides referrals to other social and community service organizations.

- Outreach to inform individuals, community groups and agencies of program services.

- Assist in data entry as needed.

- Administrative skills: ability to display working knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook

- Typing skills: ability to type 30wpm

- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or GED equivalent and experience performing job functions

- One (1) or more years of clerical or public contact work experience
