About this role

Job Title: Senior QA/QC Inspector – Semiconductor Construction Job Description
The Senior QA/QC Inspector supports complex semiconductor construction projects by leading quality inspections, welding inspections, turnover activities, and implementation of project-specific quality plans. This role is critical in aligning newly acquired operations with established QA/QC procedures and ensuring that high-purity process systems, pipe and tube installations, and cleanroom construction meet stringent industry and client standards. The position requires a seasoned inspector who can operate independently with minimal training while collaborating closely with project management, construction supervision, and key stakeholders to deliver successful, compliant projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive QA/QC inspections on semiconductor construction projects, focusing on high-purity piping, process systems, and mechanical installations.
- Review installations for compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and internal quality standards.
- Conduct detailed weld inspections, including TIG and orbital welds, to verify weld quality and adherence to UHP welding requirements.
- Prepare and maintain thorough inspection documentation, including reports, records, and photographic evidence as needed.
- Manage punch lists by identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, tracking resolution, and verifying corrective actions.
- Support turnover activities by assembling and reviewing turnover packages, ensuring all required documentation and inspections are complete.
- Lead mechanical completion inspections and field walkdowns to confirm system readiness and compliance prior to client acceptance.
- Track deficiencies and non-conformances, coordinate with construction teams to address issues, and verify that rework meets quality standards.
- Provide client acceptance support by participating in walkthroughs, responding to technical questions, and presenting inspection results.
- Implement and enforce project quality plans, ensuring consistent application across newly integrated operations and existing procedures.
- Collaborate closely with project management, construction supervision, commissioning, and operations teams to resolve quality issues and maintain schedule.
- Offer mechanical quality oversight for process piping installations and related systems in cleanroom, subfab, and fab environments.
- Support tool installation projects by verifying that associated piping and mechanical systems meet semiconductor and high-purity requirements.
- Operate independently in the field with minimal training, making sound technical judgments and escalating issues appropriately.
- Maintain strong documentation and reporting practices to provide transparency and traceability for all inspections and quality activities.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of QA/QC inspection experience in construction or industrial environments.
- Strong background in field inspections, including mechanical and piping systems.
- Hands-on experience inspecting pipe and tube welding, with emphasis on high-purity and process piping installations.
- Proven ability to perform weld inspections, including TIG welding inspection and verification of weld quality.
- Knowledge of UHP (Ultra High Purity) process systems and UHP welding practices.
- Familiarity with orbital welding processes and related inspection requirements.
- Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing environments, particularly cleanroom and fab construction.
- Understanding of turnover and walkdown processes, including mechanical completion and client acceptance procedures.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work onsite daily in a semiconductor fabrication and construction environment.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal training while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with cleanroom construction, subfab environments, fab construction, and tool installation projects.
- Mechanical quality oversight experience for high-purity piping and process systems.
- Preferred ASNT Level II certification in RT, UT, PT, VT, and MT.
- Preferred Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Preferred knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping.
- Preferred knowledge of ASME B31.1 Power Piping.
- Preferred knowledge of ASME BPVC Section IX Welding Qualifications.
- Preferred knowledge of ASME BPE Bioprocessing Equipment.
- Preferred knowledge of API 1104 Welding of Pipelines and Related Facilities.
- Experience supporting advanced high-purity process systems in manufacturing or semiconductor facilities.
- Local Bay Area experience and familiarity with regional semiconductor project environments are advantageous.
Work Environment
This role is 100% onsite in a semiconductor fabrication setting, working within cleanroom areas and active construction field conditions. The environment involves frequent field walkdowns, mechanical completion inspections, and close interaction with construction, commissioning, and operations teams. Work is performed around high-purity process systems, advanced manufacturing tools, and complex piping installations, requiring strict adherence to facility protocols and cleanliness standards. The position offers exposure to highly technical cleanroom and manufacturing projects, visible responsibility for critical project turnover and quality initiatives, and the potential for contract-to-hire engagement. The culture emphasizes collaboration, technical excellence, and meticulous quality control in a fast-paced project environment.
