The Warehouse & Project Operations Coordinator / Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting material management, logistics coordination, and overall project operations for a large-scale construction project in Santa Clara, CA. This hands-on position combines daily warehouse management with project coordination activities and is well suited to professionals from construction, manufacturing, industrial operations, logistics, or material management environments. The role focuses on tracking materials from procurement through installation, coordinating deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory, and facilitating communication between vendors, field teams, and project leadership to keep work moving efficiently and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily warehouse operations, including receiving, inspection, storage, inventory control, and material distribution to support ongoing project needs.
- Track project materials from procurement through final installation to ensure availability and alignment with project schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and material tracking logs, updating systems and documentation as materials move through the warehouse and field.
- Coordinate deliveries with vendors, suppliers, and carriers, ensuring materials are received, inspected, and stored properly upon arrival.
- Monitor material shortages, damaged goods, and inventory discrepancies, and escalate or resolve issues to prevent impacts on field productivity.
- Organize and maintain an efficient warehouse layout to maximize space utilization, safety, and material accessibility for field crews.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively to move, load, and unload materials.
- Support project teams with logistics planning and material forecasting, helping anticipate future material needs based on project milestones.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure timely material delivery and alignment with work plans.
- Track and communicate material status, lead times, and delivery schedules to project leadership and field teams.
- Assist with project reporting and operational documentation, including logs, summaries, and updates related to materials and logistics.
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide clear updates on inventory levels, deliveries, and logistics challenges.
- Help identify and resolve material and supply chain issues that could impact project schedules, working proactively to find solutions.
- Support field operations by ensuring crews have the tools, equipment, and materials required to maintain productivity and meet project goals.
- Collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders to bridge the gap between warehouse operations and construction execution.
- Apply a safety-focused mindset in all warehouse and field activities, including equipment operation and material handling.
- Demonstrate a hands-on, proactive approach by stepping into both warehouse and field environments as needed to support operations.
- Exercise strong ownership and accountability for material management, logistics coordination, and accurate documentation.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, material management, logistics, or construction support.
- Demonstrated experience supporting construction, industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, mission-critical, or commercial projects.
- Strong inventory management and material tracking experience, including maintaining accurate records and logs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel for reporting, tracking, and communication.
- Experience using inventory tracking systems to monitor material status and movement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment while meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage inventory, documentation, and logistics activities efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively across project teams, warehouse staff, vendors, and field crews.
- Hands-on and proactive work style, comfortable operating in both warehouse and field settings.
- Strong attention to detail in tracking materials, documenting information, and monitoring discrepancies.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to address logistics, supply chain, and inventory challenges.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders and maintain clear, timely communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift certification or previous forklift operating experience is preferred.
- Background in construction project support, warehouse management, material management, logistics coordination, or procurement and inventory control.
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing operations, semiconductor facilities, or mission-critical environments is highly beneficial.
- Exposure to project management, construction management, engineering workflows, and change order processes is an advantage.
- Familiarity with construction-related documentation such as RFIs and operational reporting is helpful.
- Comfort working in on-site roles within large-scale construction projects.
- Ability to understand project operations and connect materials management with construction execution.
- Capacity to forecast material needs based on project phases and schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and field teams.
Work Environment
This role is based on-site in Santa Clara, CA and involves working primarily in a warehouse and active construction project environment. The position requires regular presence in the warehouse to manage receiving, storage, and inventory, as well as time in the field to support project teams and coordinate materials with ongoing construction activities. You will operate forklifts and other material handling equipment and work around heavy materials, tools, and equipment, following established safety procedures and guidelines. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with shifting priorities driven by project schedules and field needs. Collaboration with project leadership, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and field crews is a daily aspect of the role, and clear communication is essential. The work setting emphasizes safety, reliability, and a hands-on approach, offering the opportunity to directly impact project efficiency and success by keeping materials and logistics well organized and aligned with construction operations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
