Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician Job Description The Quality Control Laboratory Technician supports laboratory operations by preparing materials for testing, assisting certified laboratory professionals with a variety of tests, and ensuring accurate handling and tracking of donor samples from receipt through final testing. This entry-level role offers hands-on training in a donor processing and manufacturing laboratory, providing a strong foundation for a career in the medical and quality control fields. Responsibilities

- Assist in the preparation of materials for laboratory testing, including buffer materials and other required solutions.
- Support professional and certified laboratory staff in performing various tests by preparing and organizing samples and materials.
- Receive specimens and certain supplies from collection centers, ensuring accurate logging and processing of all incoming items.
- Process and record information received from collection centers using computerized systems and data entry procedures.
- Handle and track donor samples from initial receipt through final testing, maintaining clear and accurate sample identification at all times.
- Prepare samples through front-end automation and ensure proper refrigerated and frozen storage and archiving of samples.
- Use computerized reports to retrieve and reconcile samples from archive for additional testing, ensuring proper chain of custody.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation within the assigned department according to established procedures.
- Use the laboratory’s computerized inventory management system to locate, track, and determine the testing status of samples.
- Perform proper disposal of samples into biohazard containers once testing is complete, following safety and compliance guidelines.
- Assist with monitoring inventory levels for laboratory supplies relevant to the assigned department and promptly notify supervision of inventory needs.
- May handle positive samples in accordance with laboratory protocols and safety procedures.
- Follow established quality control and quality assurance practices to support accurate and reliable test results.
- Maintain organized work areas and contribute to a positive, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment.

Essential Skills

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use laboratory information systems and perform accurate data entry.
- Understanding of quality control and quality assurance principles in a laboratory or production environment.
- Interest in medical technology and laboratory analysis, with the ability to learn and follow technical procedures.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate sample handling, labeling, and record keeping.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on laboratory instrumentation after training.
- Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.
- Reliability in following safety protocols, including proper biohazard disposal and handling of donor samples.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree, particularly for candidates seeking entry-level experience in the medical field, is welcomed but not required.
- Laboratory experience, such as previous work in a testing or research lab, is preferred.
- Experience in production line work or manufacturing is beneficial, especially in a donor processing or similar environment.
- Experience with data entry and computerized inventory or tracking systems is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a structured environment with a standard operating rhythm.
- Interest in developing a long-term career in medical technology, laboratory operations, or quality control.

Work Environment This role is based in a donor processing and manufacturing laboratory that operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A structured orientation is generally provided on a Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The environment is highly regulated and quality-focused, with established procedures, front-end automation equipment, refrigerated and frozen storage units, and computerized inventory and reporting systems. Work is performed in a laboratory setting that requires adherence to safety protocols, including proper use of biohazard containers and appropriate handling of donor and positive samples. The facility offers a positive and collaborative atmosphere, a standard daily operating rhythm without on-call requirements or STAT lab pressures common in hospital environments, and opportunities for growth across multiple global locations. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.35 - $16.35/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
