Ahafo North is Newmont’s newest gold mine, having achieved first gold production in late 2025. Recognised as one of West Africa’s most promising gold deposits before development, the project’s successful start-up marked a major milestone for both Newmont and Ghana’s mining industry. Ahafo North comprises four open-pit mines and a modern processing plant, with an initial mine life of at least 13 years. Located in Ghana’s Ahafo Region, the site includes a purpose-built camp to support its rotating workforce. ##### Your Impact;

- Provide safe, environmentally responsible and cost-effective welding, machining and fabrication services to support optimal equipment availability and production targets.

##### As Part Our Team, You Will:

Fabrication, Machining and Maintenance Welding

- Work from engineering drawings, sketches, specifications and verbal instructions.
- Position and secure parts for welding, fabrication, gouging and grinding using appropriate jigs and fixtures.
- Select suitable welding equipment and electrodes for the material, including gas torches, portable electric arcs, and semi-automatic or automatic machines.
- Set up and adjust equipment and controls to regulate gas pressure, voltage and amperage.
- Inspect and assess weld quality, including joint functionality, and work within strict quality standards and tolerances.
- Improvise acceptable assemblies, where necessary, to return mining equipment to operation.

Reporting

- Prepare daily reports on planned jobs and submit them to the Welding Supervisor.

Work Scheduling and Allocation

- Determine your work schedule, coordinate with support services and assign short-term tasks to Mechanics, Electricians or the Supervisor, as necessary.
- Complete work as prescribed in the work order and close work orders when tasks are completed.

Health, Safety and Environment

- Accept personal responsibility for health and safety and apply safe systems of work without supervision.
- Provide technical guidance when required and ensure all safety documentation is in place before work begins.
- Complete housekeeping after each job and attend safety meetings.
- Become familiar with and strictly adhere to Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards. Act as a role model in complying with and supporting these standards and practices.

##### Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

- Completion of a trade certification, apprenticeship or another recognized welder training program.

Additional Knowledge:

- Knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
- Knowledge of the work management process, planning and scheduling.
- Advanced knowledge of welding techniques, welding standards and related safety standards.

Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance welding, machining and fabrication, including repairing and maintaining industrial or mining equipment and auxiliaries.

Technical Skills:

- Problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot, check tolerances and use precision measuring tools.
- Ability to identify problems and report them using the technical names of equipment and parts.
- Ability to use oxy-acetylene equipment, 9-inch and 5-inch grinding machines, arc welding machine sets, thermal lances, welding shields and other specialized welding equipment.
- Ability to understand installation procedures and interpret technical drawings or blueprints.

##### Working Conditions:

- This role is based at Ahafo South, a remote site where safety is a key priority in all work activities.
- The role may involve working in confined spaces and around equipment, materials and site conditions that require care, attention and adherence to established safety procedures.
- The work may include handling heavy materials and operating or working near heavy equipment, in line with safe work practices.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required for the role, including items such as a helmet, goggles, high-visibility clothing, safety harness, ear protection and dust mask, as needed
