Job Title: Laboratory Analyst Job Description The Laboratory Analyst supports a busy analytical laboratory in Liverpool, NY by preparing, analyzing, and generating final reports for solid samples using Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS). The role focuses on a wide range of materials, including metals, powders, ceramics, and coatings, and requires careful sample preparation, operation of analytical instrumentation, and troubleshooting of processes and equipment. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality analytical work within a structured, standards-driven environment. Responsibilities

- Prepare solid samples for analysis, including metals, powders, ceramics, and coatings, using bench top shears, hand-held metal snips, precision saws, polishers, grinding wheels, and various acids.
- Perform analyses of prepared samples using Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standards.
- Generate accurate and timely final reports based on analytical results, ensuring data integrity and clear documentation.
- Troubleshoot laboratory processes and equipment to identify root causes of issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Use microscopes, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, gas analyzers, and associated instrumentation as part of testing and analytical workflows.
- Plan and prioritize daily tasks and responsibilities to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.
- Perform analyses and design experiments with some supervision, following scientific best practices and laboratory protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve common goals, sharing information and supporting collective problem-solving.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships, delivering solutions tailored to customer needs.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in materials science, chemistry, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience with testing and associated instrumentation such as microscopes, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and gas analyzers.
- Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform analyses and design experiments with some supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and reduce tension using effective communication techniques.
- Proven ability to build partnerships and collaborate with team members to achieve shared objectives.
- Customer-focused mindset with a desire to build strong relationships and deliver solutions tailored to customer needs.

- Comfort working a late shift schedule as required.

Work Environment This role is based in a laboratory setting in Liverpool, NY, working with a variety of solid materials including metals, powders, ceramics, and coatings. The position involves extensive use of sample preparation tools such as bench top shears, hand-held metal snips, precision saws, polishers, grinding wheels, and various acids, as well as advanced analytical instruments including GDMS, microscopes, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and gas analyzers. Employees work within an ISO standards-driven environment and must follow company information security requirements. The typical work schedule is either 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an expectation of comfort working the 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. shift. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Liverpool, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
