POSITION SUMMARY

Jefferson Radiology has a position available for a Physician Assistant to join the Interventional Radiology team, with a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week and the potential for up to 40 hours per week.

- Business hours, Monday through Friday. Five days a week with 8-hour shifts.  No weekends or major holidays.
- CME: 40 hours per year
- Primary Work Location: Day Kimball Hospital, 320 Pomfret Street, Putnam, CT 06260
- Additional  locations include Jefferson Radiology Outpatient Center(s), Farmington CT and Glastonbury CT, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Hartford CT, Manchester Memorial Hospital, Manchester, CT
- The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology and therapies under the supervision of a Jefferson Radiology physician.
- Performs image-guided procedures and assists with a broad range of procedure room responsibilities. Independently performs ultrasound, fluoroscopic, and CT-guided interventions, as well as diagnostic fluoroscopic studies.
- Responsibilities include patient management before, during and after diagnostic and therapeutic image-guided procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for coordinating procedure-related clinical operations and preparing cases, staff, and patients for upcoming procedures in a hospital setting.

The role will function to:

- Minimize redundant workflow and communication
- Serve as the overall triage person for queries and add-on cases
- Work with radiology nursing and clinical staff to update and oversee preparation of the procedure schedule for all modalities each day and upcoming day.
- Provides high quality, cost-effective primary health care services, with physician supervision, manages hospital and office responsibilities including:
- Directing clinical management and education to patients through the completion of physical exams;
- Ordering lab and diagnostic studies;
- Preparing pre-procedure orders and services, including obtaining informed consent, screening for contrast allergies, renal status, medication list, etc.
- Evaluating medical images;
- Reviewing preliminary reports and images with staff radiologist;
- Dictating final reports for review and signature of supervising staff radiologist;
- Producing daily progress notes;
- Reviewing, updating and ensuring proper maintenance of patient records;
- Managing interventional patients in intensive care units or on medical/surgical floors and in outpatient facilities.
- Provides follow-up orders for discharge. Performs patient discharge and case coordination in conjunction with nursing staff when appropriate.
- Networks effectively within hospital and community to meet the needs of the patient population. Acts as a liaison for referring physicians and the Interventional Radiology practice, in support of the Marketing Department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Current license and certificate of authority to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Connecticut required
- Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. (NCCPA)
- BLS AND ACLS certification required
- Successful completion of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Fluoroscopy Examination within 6 months of hire (Paid for by the practice).
- Controlled Substance Registration for practitioner
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration ​

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $109,900 - $164,800 . Final determinations may vary based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, geographic location etc. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
