Job Title: Pharmacist Job Description
The Pharmacist oversees daily pharmacy operations within a community health setting to ensure medications are dispensed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with state and federal regulations. This role reviews and interprets physician orders, monitors drug therapies, and provides clear, compassionate medication counseling and pharmacological guidance to patients and healthcare providers. The Pharmacist ensures adherence to DEA and 340B program requirements, supervises pharmacy staff and technician workflow, manages inventory and vendor relationships, and collaborates closely with pharmacy management partners. The position actively participates in leadership and departmental meetings, supports staff development, maintains a safe work environment, and contributes to high-quality patient care and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications.
- Review and interpret physician orders to verify appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness of prescriptions.
- Monitor drug therapies for effectiveness, safety, and potential interactions, and make clinical recommendations as needed.
- Provide medication counseling to patients, explaining proper use, potential side effects, and safety considerations in a clear and supportive manner.
- Offer pharmacological guidance to healthcare providers, collaborating to optimize medication regimens and patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations, including DEA requirements and 340B program guidelines.
- Supervise pharmacy staff and technicians, overseeing workflow, task delegation, and adherence to established procedures.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, storage, handling, and monitoring of stock levels to prevent shortages and waste.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with vendors and external pharmacy management partners to support efficient operations.
- Participate in leadership and departmental meetings, contributing clinical insight and operational feedback to improve services.
- Support staff development through coaching, training, and reinforcement of best practices in medication safety and patient care.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that supports accurate dispensing and protects staff and patients.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care quality, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of pharmacy experience in a clinical or community setting.
- Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
- Valid Georgia pharmacist license or eligibility by meeting the education requirements for state licensure.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification upon hire.
- Strong mathematical skills to support accurate calculations for dosing and compounding.
- Solid understanding of pharmaceutical and clinical sciences relevant to medication therapy.
- Demonstrated ability to measure substances accurately for dispensing and compounding.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to detect, investigate, and resolve potential mistakes in patients’ medications and prescriptions.
- In-depth knowledge of medications, including indications, contraindications, and potential side effects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy upon hire.
- Experience with the 340B drug pricing program is a plus but not required.
Work Environment
This role is based in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) pharmacy, serving a diverse patient population in an outpatient setting focused on accessible, community-oriented care. The schedule offers part-time flexibility of 1–3 days per week. Monday availability is required, with operating hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., though the pharmacist may not be scheduled for the entire day. Additional days can be arranged flexibly, with options such as Tuesday or Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., or Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The environment emphasizes collaboration with healthcare professionals, adherence to regulatory standards, and a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care, with professional attire appropriate for a clinical pharmacy setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ringgold, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
